About Us
Timeline of Erodex
Your performance relies on great partners. Those that understand your challenges and how to overcome them.
For 50 years we’ve designed and manufactured premium graphite electrodes and carbon products. Global engineering organisations – like Rolls Royce, GE, and Pratt and Witney – rely on us to help maintain their leading edge.
They depend on our decades of technical know-how and state-of-the-art machine shop. Not to mention our leading UK distribution of EDM materials.
We understand what matters to our customers, such as blade and vane geometry. We also focus on their goals, such as cost-per-part reduction and heightened performance.
Whether consulting, designing, or machining, we push the boundaries to help you meet and exceed your goals.
Want to achieve your leading edge? Choose Erodex.
1973
Erodex was founded in 1974 by Ray and Fred Rolinson, with the vision of supporting the UK's growing EDM industry.
Since then, we've grown an reputation for the quality of our graphite materials, EDM wires, EDM Spares and service. With this policy, we have quickly become market leaders in our industry and began expanding into new markets.
1980
By the mid 1980's, we launched our new state-of-the-art machining facility in Darlston, West Midlands.
The addition of our machine shop enabled us to manufacture our own graphite electrodes in house. This quickly became a major part of the business and further cemented our reputation as market leaders in the UK's EDM industry. Following this, we expanded into other industries and have since operated heavily in semi-conductor, mechanical high temperature and more.
1999
In 1999, the acquisition of Engineering Carbon Products allowed us to further expand into the carbon brushes and ancillaires market or servicing electrical motors.
With our existing experience in carbon graphites and increasingly sophisticated machining facility, Erodex and ECP created a streamlined rapid turnaround service for the the electrical motor breakdown market.
2009
As the demand for Erodex produced electrodes grew, it became apparent that the ability to design in house was needed.
In 2009, we completed the take-over of BWP Technical Services, a design house that specialised in electrodes and tooling for the aerospace market. With the design expertise of BWP and manufacturing knowledge of Erodex, we could now offer a complete in house 'design and make' service for graphite electrodes, aerospace fixtering and tooling.
2016
In 2016 Erodex founded Erodex Inc in Virginia USA to support the aerospace sector with design and manufacturing expertise in the production of blade, vane and segment component.
This East Coast facility is also the logistical hub for the stockholding and distribution of consumable parts for Aerospace and IGT sectors.
2020
In 2020 Erodex founded its Cost Per Part Program and workshop supporting customers globally in reducing cost per part of EDM Die Sink processes within Aerospace and IGT.
Serving both Primes and First Tier supply chain, this program has an unbroken track record of delivering novel, high yield, high Right First Time total Die Sink solutions and supporting successful in-loads to customer production sites.
2021
In 2021 Erodex purchased TMS (Tool Making Supplies) based in central England.
Adding the TMS supply chain and product lines to the Erodex catalogue helped to ensure that we remain the premier one-stop-shop supplier of EDM and WEDM consumables in the industry.
Today
Today Erodex continues to invest heavily in developing its electrode manufacturing capability.
Our in-house R&D team has provided numerous advances to drive accuracy and electrode efficiency and part yields. These advances are then supported by investment to ensure the most advanced production methods are integrated successfully into our production facilities. Coupled with our Cost Per Part Program these advances in electrode manufacturing allow us to provide a truly unique level of support to global customers in the challenging Aerospace and IGT sectors.
